Energy Company Creating Twice the Carbon Pollution as Conventional Diesel Fuel

The global environmental movement seems to be stuck in a pattern: two steps forward, one step back. Case in point is this week’s news that a Chinese energy company is ready to open a chemical plant that uses coal to make synthetic diesel fuel, which creates almost twice the carbon pollution as conventional diesel fuel.

Turbofan Engine Successfully Operated using Alternative Fuel

Pratt & Whitney's Geared Turbofan demonstrator engine has successfully operated using an alternative fuel blend during Phase I ground testing in West Palm Beach, Fla. Pratt & Whitney and engineers from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), in a partnership under the NASA Fundamental Aeronautics program, completed the test using a synthetic fuel blend as part of a program comparing potential emissions benefits for future aircraft applications.
