Construction of world's most powerful wind turbines in progress in Emden

ENERCON is currently installing two E-126/6 MW WECs on the Rysumer Nacken in Emden, Germany. This new ENERCON model is a sophisticated version of the E-112 (6 MW rated power) - the world's most powerful wind turbine to date. ENERCON GmbH, the project's builder/owners, will be testing several types of storage systems in combination with the multi-megawatt wind turbines.

Hanwei to Produce Two Versions of AeroBlade in China

Hanwei Energy Services Corp. announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Aerodyn Energiesysteme GmbH, a leading international wind power engineering firm, that will further enhance its wind turbine blade production capabilities by granting Hanwei the non-exclusive right to produce two versions of Aerodyn's aeroBlade 1.5 in China.

Energy Star for TVs

Today EPA is announcing a revised Energy Star specification for televisions. Effective Nov. 1, 2008, TVs that carry the Energy Star label will be up to 30 percent more efficient than conventional models and will save energy while they are on and when they are off. The new modifications are expected to prevent greenhouse gas emissions while offering U.S. consumers the very best in terms of feature-rich, high-quality TVs.

World's First Ever Flight Using Alternative Fuel

An Airbus A380 aircraft has successfully completed the world’s first ever flight by a commercial aircraft using a liquid fuel processed from gas (Gas to Liquids - GTL) in the first stage of a test flight programme to evaluate the environmental impact of alternative fuels in the airline market. The flight from Filton, UK to Toulouse, France, lasted three hours. The flight was piloted by Hugues van-der-Stichel and Frank Chapman.
