Iberdrola Renewables to Supply Energy from Twin Buttes II Wind Project to Tri-State

Iberdrola Renewables today announced a 25-year contract to supply Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. (Tri-State) – a wholesale electric power supplier owned by 44 electric cooperatives and public power districts across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming – with renewable energy from the planned Twin Buttes II Wind Project.

OCI Solar Power Commences Construction on 110MW Alamo 6 Solar Plant in Texas

Seabirds Endangered By Light Pollution

Petrel fledglings leave the nest after dark, but these marine birds' maiden flights towards the sea are hampered by city lights. Many collide or fall to the ground where they are in danger of being run over and vulnerable to predators. Now, a study has evaluated the impact of light pollution on three species of petrels on the Balearic Islands, including the Balearic shearwater, the most threatened sea bird in Europe, and concludes that between 30 and 47% of colonies are exposed to high levels of light pollution.

LG Electronics to Supply Energy-Efficient LED Fixtures to Davenport University

Leading LED lighting manufacturer LG Electronics today announced an important milestone in its collaboration with Davenport University. LG is supplying super-efficient fixtures across all of Davenport's campuses across the Great Lakes State as part of a multi-year program to convert existing lighting to energy-efficient LED solutions by 2018. Davenport has already installed more than 600 LG LED fixtures as part of this initiative, including troffers, tubes and cans.

Amazon’s New Solar Project in Virginia Expected to Generate 170,000MWh of Solar Power Annually

Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, today announced that it has teamed with Community Energy, Inc. to support the construction and operation of an 80 megawatt (MW) solar farm in Accomack County, Virginia, called Amazon Solar Farm US East. This new solar farm is expected to start generating approximately 170,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of solar power annually as early as October 2016 – or the equivalent of that used by approximately 15,000 US homes1 in a year.

Energía Sierra Juárez Wind Project Begins Commercial Operations in Mexico

InterGen and IEnova today announced that the Energía Sierra Juárez wind project began commercial operations in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. InterGen has a 50 percent interest in the project with Infraestructura Energética Nova, S.A.B. de C.V. “IEnova.” Energía Sierra Juárez is the first cross-border wind generation project between Mexico and the U.S.

AES Distributed Energy Completes 4MW Solar PV Installation for Georgia Power

AES Distributed Energy, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, today announced the commissioning of a 4 megawatt (MW) solar PV project located in the town of Dublin, in the County of Laurens, Georgia. This system is the first of two solar PV projects being developed by AES Distributed Energy and its partners, collectively expected to supply 20 MW to the Georgia Power utility grid. The second, 16 MW project, is under development and is expected to be operational in the first half of 2016.
