Oltmans Construction, a commercial and industrial general contractor in the US, has announced the opening of the Metrolink Public Transportation Station 2 MW Solar Carports and Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations Project at the City of Industry.
The project was constructed by Oltmans Construction through a 20-year power purchasing contract between Southern California Edison and the City of Industry.
Through this project, electricity is directly provided to the electric grid that powers the 64 EV charging stations deployed at the site. Additionally, the installation of Solar PV carports compensates for meeting the growing energy requirements.
The carport produces 2 MW DC of electric power and shelters 940 cars from the sun. The project comprises 8,372 modules that include 196 LED carport lights. About 44 miles of wiring and 10 miles of conduit were used in this project. About 190 concrete piles with depths ranging from 15 to 30 ft were used to support the structure of the carport. Approximately, 2,900 MWh power can be produced annually by the power system.
The company has completed over 25 MW solar power projects in the last two years. In addition, a 10 MW solar project is in progress. The 80-year old company offers sustainable solutions and quality services to its customers. It focuses on building worship centers, warehouse distribution centers, offices, renewable energy projects and renewal of existing buildings.
