Nel Hydrogen, the world leader of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) water electrolyzer technology, announced on January 11, 2016 that its Megawatt (MW), M Series PEM Hydrogen Generation System has achieved more than 500,000 cell operating hours with no loss in efficiency or failures.
PEM Technology
This highlights the company’s twenty years of high-impact PEM innovation and more than 1 billion fielded cell hours of PEM technology. Introduced in January 2015, the M400 hydrogen generator provides a 13x increase in hydrogen production compared to other commercial PEM systems.
When combined with greater production capacity, the M Series reduces the per kW capital cost of producing hydrogen by more than 50%.
The growth of the renewable energy industry has created a demand for large-scale energy storage solutions. This is addressed by the M Series, which offers scalable, cost-effective conversion of stranded, curtailed, or excess power to hydrogen, providing a carbon-free solution to capture and store large amounts of energy.
