Hiden Analytical’s pQA Portable Quadrupole Analyzer has been designed to analyze gases dissolved in water in the field at riverbanks, in mobile laboratories, and on boats.
The Hiden pQA portable gas analyzer is fitted with interchangeable sampling inlets suitable for several different applications, which makes it a versatile mass spectrometer. In addition, the analyzer is provided with MIMS inlets that can be used to analyze dissolved species in groundwater, fermentation cultures, soil samples, and applications where analysis of dissolved species in a liquid sample is essential.
The analyzer is suited for use in gas analysis applications that involve a small sample volume, as well as in environmental applications where the detection of low concentration levels is crucial.
The pQA analyzer has a mass range of 200 amu, an extended mass range of 300 amu can be obtained as an additional option. The analyzer also has sub-parts per billion (ppb) detection levels.
The analyzer comes enclosed in a Pelican® case. It is can be powered by a 220 V supply for laboratory applications, a 12 V supply for field applications, or solar- and/or battery-power.
Applications
- Analysis of dissolved species
- Water Analysis in reservoir, estuary or river
- Methane production control
- Environmental monitoring
- Fermentation
- DEMS
- Gas separation studies
- Fuel cells
The analyzer is available with both circular membrane carrier inlets and dissolved species probe inlets, thereby offering the capability to handle a broad range of applications. The special membrane provided in the inlet probe permits small levels of the dissolved species to flow through it and into the ion source of a high-precision quadrupole mass spectrometer.
A manual isolation valve facilitates sampling control. A solenoid safety valve provided in the analyzer ensures the protection of the mass spectrometer and vacuum system during membrane failure.
