Revolutionary Air Shutter System Assists Increase Fuel Efficiency of Chevrolet Cruze Eco

One of the best small cars in the market with the best fuel-efficiency is the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco of General Motors (GM). True to its name, this car achieves a hybrid-like fuel efficiency of 40 MPG but without the expenses generally associated with hybrids.

GM’s engineers have used proven approaches towards making this car a gas sipper, by way of trimming the overall weight as well as lowering ride height. The real innovation, however, is the air shutter system, an automatic system that is placed behind the front grill. This allows the car to vary its shape and glide through the air smoothly.

All vehicles of GM are designed in such a way that they are prepared to meet any worst-case scenario. The air shutter provides for the required cooling in such extreme cases while significantly improving the fuel economy. Engineers at GM had their task cut out in having to squeeze out every little fuel drop for providing better fuel efficiency.
