Jersey Garden Mall to Receive Single-Roof Solar System

Glimcher Realty Trust has planned to build a large single-roof solar system at the Jersey Garden outlet mall in New Jersey. The new 4.8MW solar array would produce sufficient power to compensate 11% of the power consumption of the 1.3 million Sq Ft mall.

Jersey Gardens’ solar project has been set in motion with the collaboration of Gerding Edlen, a company specializing in renewable energy and sustainable development. In addition, Glimcher has signed a power purchase agreement with Clean Focus for the project.

Under the terms of the agreement, Clean Focus will invest and own the new solar power system. Furthermore, the company will obtain other environmental benefits and solar renewable energy credits. At the same time, the Jersey Gardens mall will purchase the power generated from the solar system at a fixed price.

The solar installation is scheduled to be completed by August 2011. SunPower will handle the installation and maintenance of the solar power system.
