Mass Megawatts Wind Power and A-1 Roofing, specialising in installation of wind systems have announced that they have completed constructing their first wind power system at Aspen, Colorado, which will be used for residential or agricultural locations that are not connected to the power grid.
The wind power system, which works similar to a solar photovoltaic system is capable of generating enough electricity for a household. The excess electricity produced will be stored in batteries thus enabling continuous power supply even during times of low exposure to sun and wind.
The wind power system uses the wind augmenter technology under which the velocity of wind is increased when it is in the direction of the wind turbine. As an example, when the velocity of wind is increased to 20 mi. from 10 mi., it can enhance the power output by eight factors. Since even now many locations are not provided with utility power, the solution provided by Mass Megawatts Wind power is a cost effective and feasible one as it enables on-site power generation. The wind power system also has the capability to function efficiently under low wind speeds and thus helps in reduction of maintenance costs. Mass Megawatts Wind Power is currently under discussions with companies from the mining, resort and agricultural industries that desire a cost effective and efficient source of power.
