Cathode and Black Mass Composition Control Made Easy with XRF Analysis

 

Battery performance is linked to a host of parameters, including elemental composition. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry is the technique of choice when reliable and accurate elemental analysis of the bulk sample is needed.

This webcast explores how XRF is used for quality and process control in the battery value chain. We will show examples from cathode manufacturing, where the composition control of the cathode is used to tune performance as well as cost, and from battery recycling, where the elemental analysis of black mass is at the beginning of the recovery process.

Presenter

Christina Drathen is the product manager for ARL XRF spectrometers at Thermo Fisher Scientific with over 10+ years experience with X-ray analytical tools. Following a post-doc at the European Synchrotron in France, Christina moved to the analytical instrument manufacturing industry. She also holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, UK.
