Advanced Micro-Cellular Foam Solutions for EV Battery Packs

The Norseal® PF20 Series from Saint Gobain Tape Solutions consists of upgraded micro-cellular polyurethane foam solutions specifically designed for the effective functioning of batteries in a pack. PF25 and PF27 have thicknesses as low as 1 mm, allowing for higher energy density in a pack.

To maintain a long battery life, cell pressure and temperature must be consistent. The compressed foam between cells creates a homogeneous pressure across the cell surface.

The foam’s thermal insulation qualities help keep the cell face temperature stable. These qualities, as well as the foam’s subsequent function, remain very stable throughout time and over a wide range of environmental settings, increasing the pack’s service life.

The Compression Force Deflection (CFD) curve is the key to success. Over a wide variety of deflections, Norseal PF Cushion Pads provide a flat CFD curve.
