CW-MHF Mid-IR Laser: High-Performance Mid-IR Spectroscopy

The CW-MHF Mid-IR laser is the ultimate instrument for high-resolution mid-IR spectroscopy. The DRS Daylight CW-Mode-Hop-Free laser is suitable for users requiring phase-continuous tuning to prevent spectral line hopping, high spectral resolution, or both.

The goal for any laser system is to achieve MHF tuning and narrow-linewidth operation. With open-loop line widths of ≤ 5 MHz (over 100 ms) and MHF tuning to > 30 cm–1, and frequently to > 100 cm–1, the CW-MHF system is unique in the industry.

The CW-MHF laser achieves this performance using a very stable laser cavity, led by finite element analysis, intended to reduce sensitivity to acoustic perturbation. This design draws on years of expertise in precision engineering and manufacturing. The CW-MHF laser offers two methods for changing wavelength: current modulation and PZT modulation.

This unique combination of modulation capabilities, narrow-linewidth operation, and broad MHF tuning allows locking to a wavelength reference and/or high-resolution spectroscopy.
