Research and Markets Releases Report on Renewables in Southeastern Europe

Research and Markets have added one more report to their catalogue, titled “Renewable Energy in Southeastern Europe - 2010”.

In the year 2010, the Southeastern Europe (SEE) region produced power mainly from hydro power plants (HPPs), but currently, the other Renewable Energy Sources (RES) such as wind and solar have also entered the fray in countries like Bulgaria and Romania. Investors find substantial opportunities in other RES as several HPPs were not functional and require rehabilitation, despite the fact that the water sources in these countries could support many more hydro projects.

The SEE region with its ample solar and wind resources is attracting a number of investors, who have invested an amount over EUR 6.4 billion in solar and wind facilities. The Spanish Iberdrola has plans of constructing the largest onshore wind park in the world in Romania by 2017. Many of the SEE countries have Feed-in-Tariff Programs for promoting the development of RES Power Plants so that they could achieve the targets set out in the Renewables Directive 2009/28/EC given by EU. The basic aim was to generate 20% of the total energy from RES in the EU countries.

The report gives information about major companies, forecasts with regard to the renewable energy sector, regulatory framework, geographical factors, and supply and demand in every country in the SEE region. It also covers topics such as investments made, industry references and employment opportunities.
