Governor Pat Quinn, Shedd Aquarium Begin Clean-Energy Initiative with Installation of 913 PV Solar Panels in Illinois

Governor Pat Quinn and Shedd Aquarium today kicked off the first phase of the institution's clean-energy initiative with the installation of 913 photovoltaic solar panels on top of the aquarium's world-class marine mammal pavilion. In an event held on the roof of the Abbott Oceanarium, the Governor, along with Shedd leadership and Illinois sustainability champions, unveiled the 265-kilowatt project that is the biggest solar installation in any cultural institution in the state of Illinois funded through a public and private partnership.

Architectural Grille and Solar Energy Systems Commence Construction of Roof-Mounted 312 kW Solar System

Architectural Grille and Solar Energy Systems, both of Brooklyn, NY, have kicked off the construction of a roof-mounted 312-kilowatt solar system. Designed to produce 365,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, the solar array will offset a majority of the company's kWh consumption and reduce the factory's carbon footprint by 258 metric tons of CO2 annually, which is roughly equivalent to the emissions produced by burning 30,000 gallons of gas per year.

EC&R Solar Holds Dedication Ceremony for Maiden Solar PV Projects in Tucson, Arizona

E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) Solar held a ceremony today to dedicate two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Tucson, Arizona area with a combined total of 15 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity. Both projects have long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Tucson Electric Power (TEP).
