Solar Wind Energy Tower Selects Potential Second Tower Site

Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. (the "Company"), the inventor of large Solar Wind Downdraft Tower structures capable of producing abundant, inexpensive electricity, today is pleased to announce that the Company is aggressively pursuing a potential second Tower project in Mexico, signing a "Letter of Understanding" with the private land owner for a 505 hectares (approximately 1,250 acres) site in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora near its first tower site in San Luis, Arizona.

NRG Stadium Illuminates Field with Array of High-Efficiency LED Lights

Today, NRG Stadium™, home of the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, has become one of the first professional football stadiums in the United States to illuminate its field with an array of high-efficiency LED lights. The new lights, part of NRG Park’s sustainability master plan spearheaded by NRG Energy, will use 60 percent less energy than the lighting array it replaces.

Novelis Officially Dedicates World's Largest Aluminum Recycling Center

Novelis, the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today officially opened the world's largest aluminum recycling center. Located adjacent to the company's rolling mill in Nachterstedt, Germany, the $258 million (€200 million) recycling center will process up to 400,000 metric tons of aluminum scrap annually, turning it back into high-value aluminum ingots to feed the company's European manufacturing network.

Coronal Group, Panasonic Announce Completion of Nine Solar Projects in Central California

Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company (Panasonic) and Coronal Group LLC (Coronal) announce the completion of nine solar projects in Tulare and Kings Counties in Central California. The projects provide 16.2 MW of energy to Southern California Edison’s grid to power approximately 14,500 homes annually.

Construction Begins on 175MW Pilot Hill Wind Project

EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) and Microsoft Corporation today celebrated the launch of the Pilot Hill Wind Project with a groundbreaking ceremony. Located 60 miles southwest of Chicago in Kankakee and Iroquois counties, the 175 megawatt (MW) wind project is expected to begin commercial operation early in 2015. More than 100 people attended the ceremony including U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., who called it a historic day for the state of Illinois and the nation.

Ontario Power Authority Signs 20-year PPA for 100MW Belle River Wind Project

Samsung Renewable Energy, Inc. (Samsung) and Pattern Energy Group LP today announced they have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) for the 100 megawatt (MW) Belle River Wind project in Ontario. Samsung and Pattern Development will jointly develop, own and operate the Belle River Wind project, which will be built in Lakeshore, Ontario.
