Climate change may expand suitable cropland, particularly in the Northern high latitudes, but tropical regions may becoming decreasingly suitable, according to a study published September 17, 2014 in the open-access journal PLOS ONE by Florian Zabel from Ludwig Maximilians University, Germany and colleagues.

A recent study of the global carbon cycle offers a new perspective of Earth's climate records through time. Scientists at the University of Miami (UM) Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science suggest that one of the current methods for interpreting ancient changes in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and oceans may need to be re-evaluated.

Global wind and solar company Mainstream Renewable Power today announces the signing of an agreement with Swiss wind farm developer NEK Umwelttechnik to purchase the 225 megawatt (MW) Ayitepa Wind Farm, located 40 kilometres from Accra on the east coast of Ghana.

Capital One's Chester Facility to House Dominion Virginia Power’s Ground-Mounted Solar Energy System

Dominion Virginia Power announced today that it has selected Capital One's Chester facility to house the first ground-mounted solar energy system in Central Virginia. The installation of nearly 2,500 solar panels will generate about 500 kilowatts of electricity at peak, enough to power about 125 homes.

Warming Water Temperatures May Allow Expansion of Invasive Tropical Fish Species

"The results will allow us to better understand how the fish communities might shift under different climate change scenarios and provide the type of environmental data to inform future decisions relating to the management and siting of protected areas," said Paula Whitfield, a research ecologist at NOAA's National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) and lead author of the study.
