Solar ReFeel with Solyndra and CeRSAA Construct Test Project Site

Solar ReFeel, a renewable energy company, by collaborating with Solyndra, a solar panel manufacturer, and Centro Regionale di Sperimentazione e Assistenza Agricola (CeRSAA) has constructed a test project site at a facility of CeRSAA in Albenga, Italy, using the photovoltaic solutions of Solyndra.

The project aims to customize the generation of electrical energy and food. The project also aims at validating the crop growth advantages of the technology of Solyndra. CeRSAA is a part of Savona’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Handicraft and Agriculture.

The project covering 400 m2 in area utilizes the cylindrical module technology of Solyndra to capture, diffuse, direct and reflect the sun’s rays across a surface while facilitating uniform light transmission for the plants. The study is likely to evaluate and measure the harvest of numerous crops commonly found in the region of the Mediterranean. The project will compare the results of the crops grown under the integrated greenhouse structures of Solyndra with plants grown in traditional greenhouses.

The project, which is likely to run for 24 months, will be provided with human and technical resources as well as expertise in implementation and design of agricultural studies from CeRSAA. Already, Solyndra has provided the photovoltaic components and greenhouse framework for the project. PV systems design and implementation provider Enerqos Group offered the electrical contracting and installation support for the project. Solar ReFeel, which engages in the development of rooftop and ground-mounted photovoltaic facilities, has coordinated the necessary research work among the companies involved in the project.
