GE Energy offers the 2.5 MW Series Wind Turbine. This wind turbine meant for use in low wind areas has a strong main frame with double bearing to lessen the loads on gear box and has a integrated rotor lock for protection.
The gearbox utilized in this wind turbine is not affected by the varying grid loads. The hub of this wind turbine includes an integrally cast web in the blade root opening for high level hardness and to prevent buckling of the turbine. The patented GE patch system lessens the load related problems. The permanent magnet generator deployed in this model performs efficiently even at low level wind speeds and utilizes brushless starting for easy maintenance.
The 2.5 MW Series Wind Turbine is available in 75, 85 and 100 m tower sizes. This wind turbine deploys three rotor blades measuring 100 m each and offers a swept area of 7854 m². This wind turbine deploys a patented WindFREE reactive power feature to generate power even when the wind is not blowing and does not require additional VAR generating equipment thus saving on costs. The patented WindRIDE-THRU turbine operation system allows uninterrupted working of turbines even during grid trouble conditions. The incorporated WindCONTROL power regulation system regulates the voltage and power conveniently. The WindINERTIA control allows stable performance of the wind turbine even during low frequency grid supply and the WindINERTIA Service increases the energy output utilizing advanced turbine layout.
The 2.5 MW Series Wind Turbine provided by GE Energy has an automatic lubrication system for regular lubricating of the bearings for extended life. The optional elevator climb allows easy maintenance of the wind turbine.
