Solarfun Power Holdings Sponsors SNEC PV Power Generation Conference

Photovoltaic (PV) modules and cells and silicon ingots manufacturer Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd. provided sponsorship for the Shanghai New Energy Committee ("SNEC") 4th International PV Power Generation Conference as well as the Opening Ceremony that was held on May 7, 2010.

Carrying the theme, “Development of New Energy Resources Beneficial to Mankind”, some of the discussion topics covered in the conference include methods to beef up relationships between the industrial sector and PV technology sector; ways of improving PV technology; and methods of promoting applications of PV in China.

Experts at the conference forecasted that solar energy usage will represent 20% of the worldwide energy usage by 2020.

Standing Committee member of CPPCC National Committee Yiren Jiang and EPIA Vice President Murray Cameron stated that customers should be given cost-effective solar energy. They also stated that China needs to increase its global market share in PV energy generation to 20%.

Solarfun Power Holdings’ President Peter Xie stated that one of the goals common to people throughout the world is to decrease carbon emissions. Peter also stressed the necessity for European and U.S. manufacturers to partner with low-cost manufacturers of China.
