Solar Frontier to Install New Power Equipment at Miyazaki Plant

Solar Frontier, a wholly owned subsidiary of Showa Shell Sekiyu, has announced that it will be installing CIS solar power generation equipment capable of generating up to 2,000 kW at the third Miyazaki Plant in Japan. The new photovoltaic (PV) solar power project will be subsidized under the partnership agreement signed between Solar Frontier and Miyazaki Prefecture.

The solar power equipment is currently under construction and is scheduled to start delivering energy by early 2011. Shigeaki Kameda, CEO of Solar Frontier, said the new plant makes use of ecological solar panels, offering considerable economic benefits as well. Kameda expects the latest installation to provide the company with useful data regarding the performance of its CIS photovoltaic panels, allowing continual improvements to be made to the product.

Solar Frontier is committed to provide its customers with cleaner and more economical solar energy. With its partnership with Miyazaki Prefecture, Solar Frontier hopes to play a significant role in the expansion and development of the global solar cell industry.
