National Semiconductor Launches New Chipset for Solar Panels

National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM) launched the first in-panel SolarMagic chipset. The launch of the SolarMagic chipset marks the arrival of smart panels, a new brand of solar system.

SolarMagic Chipset

The SM3320 chipset is the first analog-intensive power management chipset providing the module and junction box manufacturers with “smart” functionality to guarantee efficiency and cost-effectiveness. With low systems cost and high-energy production, the SM3320 offers an efficient solution to manufacturers with reliability and enhances power output.

The chipset comprises a 99.5% efficient, integrated 350 W tri-mode power converter, fire safety panel shut-off and other advanced safety mechanisms. The SM3320 can lower, boost or pass-through each panel’s voltage to realize the highest energy harvest. The chipset comes with CE and UL component-level certification.
