Second Wind Celebrates Global Wind Day

On June 15, 2010, Second Wind celebrated Global Wind Day by means of sponsoring its annual Tweet-Up meeting for Twitter followers who are environmentally conscious at the Blue Shirt Cafe in Davis Square.

Global Wind Day, organized by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), promotes the awareness levels of wind power throughout the world, thus, creating an atmosphere where wind power will be considered as a near-term answer for tackling global climate change and an economic growth driver.

Global Wind Day presents an ideal opportunity for the public to assess the potential of wind power, while taking pride in the efforts and the work that goes into it. For Second Wind, the celebrations are a milestone; it’s Triton Wind Profiler System, thus far, has collected global wind data in excess of 900,000 hours and is likely to hit the 1 million hour milestone in a few weeks time. This year, the company is also celebrating its 30th anniversary and has made the 10,000th sale of its Nomad wind resource data logger.

The CEO of EWEA, Denis Bode, has mentioned that Global Wind Day, being celebrated on June 15, gives an ideal opportunity for underscoring the nation’s environmental security, energy security and economic security, as well. He also added that they are hoping to encourage more people for getting involved in the campaign for increasing the usage of wind energy in America and for calling upon Congress in order to pass a robust national Renewable Electricity Standard as under climate and energy legislation.
