U.S. DOE Provides $1.2 million to Dow Corning for Improving Energy Efficiency of Commercial Buildings

Dow Corning Corporation has received $1.2 million from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) for developing an insulating façade system. This system can enhance the energy efficiency levels of commercial buildings.

The funding will help Dow Corning Corporation develop a high-efficiency, silicon-based building insulation system that can be utilized in new and retro-fit construction applications. This insulation project focuses on attaining thermal resistance of R-40 or more for exterior finish and insulation systems that can make building facades energy efficient by eight times.

This energy efficient insulation material project of Dow Corning Corporation is one among 58 projects that received over $76 million in funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act from the DOE for supporting sophisticated energy-efficient building technology projects as well as advancement of training programs meant for commercial building operators, energy auditors and building equipment technicians.
