STEP Energysystems offers the STEP V2 wind turbine. This wind turbine incorporates a patented steering model to control the rotation speed of the turbine.
The control features incorporated in the turbine include an automatic stopping control to stop the wind turbine operations when the wind speed exceeds the monitoring level, a regulator to maintain the rotation speed of the turbine at a constant rate, a production control to regulate the level of power production in tone with the available wind speed, a vibration check and a temperature control. The safety features incorporated in the wind turbine includes a pitch controlled power steering, and a maintenance free aerodynamic rotor brake system.
The STEP V2 wind turbine incorporates three blades made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and each blades weighs 90 kg. The rotor of this wind turbine has a diameter of 9.0 m and covers a swept area of 63.6 m². The pitch controlled rotor is automatically aligned utilizing an incorporated Lee System with automatic alignment. This wind turbine commences its operations in wind speeds ranging from 2 to 3 m/s and achieves the maximum power production at 11 m/s wind speed with 120 rpm blade rotation. This wind turbine ceases its rotating operations at 25 m/s wind speed and withstands up to 50 m/s wind speed.
The STEP V2 wind turbine offered by STEP Energysystems is available in 15 or 18m mast heights. This wind turbine incorporates a synchronous generator with 1500 rpm speed and 16 kV power. With an efficiency of 84% this generator outputs up to 400 V power. For the purpose of storing the generated power SMA Windyboy 5000 A type inverter is installed with this wind turbine.
