Applied Materials Survey Indicates Americans Want More Solar Power

A recent survey carried out by Applied Materials, Inc. has revealed that around 65% of American citizens believe that solar technology should be given more importance in meeting the energy requirements of the nation. Moreover, around 75% of Americans consider that decreasing the dependence of the U.S. on foreign oil and increasing renewable energy should be the top energy priorities of the nation.

This survey has been primarily conducted for gauging the public’s opinion as well as knowledge on the overall U.S. energy usage. As per the survey, 67% of Americans were willing to shell out more money for their utility bills, if the usage of renewable energy was increased by the utility company. Additionally, 49% of consumers were willing to pay around $5 monthly for an increased quantity of renewable energy usage.

Applied Solar’s President Charles Gay mentioned that Americans are becoming increasingly aware of the necessity for energy solutions such as solar power and expect the government to drive policies and investments targeted at finding alternative methods to power homes. He also added that the nation could realize the rewards of one of the largest economic job engines, the clean energy revolution.
