University of Queensland to Receive Solar PV Modules from Trina Solar

Major producer of photovoltaic products, Trina Solar Limited, is all set to provide PV modules to the Brisbane-based St. Lucia campus of the University of Queensland, Australia. These modules will be used in a solar system of capacity 1.2 MW, which will be mounted on the roofs of four buildings at the university.

Ingenero, a top-ranking clean energy company of Australia, will develop the solar system. This solar installation will not only help meet the green energy needs of the university but also will provide insight regarding the performance of the arrays to the university’s staff and students who will work with Trina Solar to aid the development of state-of-the-art solar technologies.

The Government of Queensland has granted AUD1.5 million for the project that is worth AUD7.75 million. The solar installation, which is part of this project, will produce 1,750 MWh of electricity annually.

The CEO of Ingenero, Steve McRae, noted that through this installation the university will be able to bring down its carbon footprint and can also spread the knowledge about clean technologies among future leaders in the industry. Paul Meredith of the University of Queensland commented that this array is representative of a top-ranking teaching and research faculty. He also added that the aim of this solar installation is not only to achieve energy efficiency but also to enlighten the community and the government with information on deploying and optimizing solar systems.
