DOE Provides Grant to Spire for Developing LED-Based Solar Simulator

The Department of Energy (DOE) has provided a Small Business Innovation Research grant to Spire Corporation, a solar company offering turnkey manufacturing lines and capital equipment to manufacture PV modules globally, for developing a solar simulator based on light emitting diode (LED).

Spire Corporation, by utilizing pulsed light lamp light resources, produces solar simulators. Through this project, the company will develop a sophisticated LED-based solar simulator, which can provide the benefits of cost, versatility, reliability and accuracy. Moreover, with the assistance of control electronics and system software, spatial, intensity and spectral uniformity variations can be easily achieved.
