GE and AWEA Deliver Petition to White House on Clean Energy Policy

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and GE have delivered a petition to the White House from the American citizens throughout the country in the likeness of a wind turbine blade 131 feet in length. The blade, which has traveled over 4,000 miles across 10 U.S. states, features signatures from American citizens who promote a clean energy future.

Over 6,000 U.S. citizens throughout the country including the general public, public officials, engineers, managers, factory workers and transportation workers have signed the blade. The blade, which was produced in South Dakota, highlights how clean energy not only generates novel manufacturing jobs in the U.S., but also provides clean energy to homes and factories in the U.S.

Carrying the words, “I’m helping to build America’s energy future”, the blade calls on Congress and the president to act on clean power policies, which will enhance energy security and decrease reliance on foreign oil. The blade of one 1.5-MW wind turbine generates sufficient energy for powering around 400 homes.
