Sol Ventus Partners have signed two contracts called Power Purchase Agreements to install photovoltaic (PV) solar array systems in schools in the Ohio District. These PV solar array systems will generate about 290 kilowatts each at North Adams and Pebbles Elementary Schools.
Sol Ventus Partners will construct and run the systems for a contract period of twenty years. The Ohio School District has agreed to buy the solar power generated by the systems and is expected to achieve savings between 15% and 18% on power.
By putting into practice solar energy as an alternative source of power in their buildings the Ohio schools hope to teach both teachers and students about the subject of green power and save power costs. The curriculum has been designed to increase the study of related subjects including science as well as math and economics in relation to green energy projects. Thus, students and teachers will monitor the activities with a real time energy interface and learn about the benefits of alternate energy and the environment. This will also help the Ohio’s School Districts to cope with uncertain budgets and increased costs.
The Solar systems at North Adams and Pebbles Schools is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010. Kastle Solar and Wind an associate of Sol Ventus Partners is handling the project. The architectural firm of McGill Smith Punshon who are the systems planning experts for Sol Ventus Partners have already conducted feasibility studies for the project. The company’s focus on low cost turnkey programs helps its partners to reduce energy costs while meeting environmental goals.
The Ohio District is moving forward with solar projects as they are a source of clean and sustainable energy with low costs.
