ABB Secures Solar Contract from Actelios Solar

ABB, a diversified power company, has secured a contract from Actelios Solar for supplying three PV solar energy plants located in Sicily, Italy. The contract is valued at $50 million. Actelios Solar is a subsidiary of a producer of renewable energy Actelios.

The contract includes PV modules with more than 13 MW in overall energy capacity, which when fixed to the grid by the close of this year, will generate approximately 16 GWh of energy per year.

The main plant with 6 MW capacity will be set up in Spinasanta along with a surplus plant with 3.8 MW capacity in Cardonita at a plant with 3.3 MW capacity in Sugherotorto.

The project includes engineering, design, commissioning and supply of the power plants, in addition to the distribution link which is likely to connect the facilities to the grid.

In order to ensure proper efficiency, ABB will supply low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, protection devices as well as a sophisticated control system equipped with diagnostic capability and control.
