Suzlon Energy Selected to Execute HPCL’s 25.5 MW Wind Energy Project

Suzlon Energy Limited, a major wind turbine manufacturing company, clinched the deal for initiating a 25.5 MW wind turbines earlier and has received a second order from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, a Government of India owned public sector enterprise for installing a 25.5 MW wind power project at Akal in Rajasthan.

The mission expected to be concluded during the third quarter of the year 2010 includes 17 units of Suzlon’s S82-1.5 MW wind turbines.

With the completion of this second order by Suzlon the wind generating capacity of HPCL will go beyond 50 MW. HPCL has entered into non-conventional clean energy business with an idea to execute a 100 MW wind generating farm in stages, and has proposed to chronicle its latest wind energy project under the appellation Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

While vocalizing on the project, Suzlon Energy’s President for India, Middle East and South Asia, Ashok D’Sa expressed his pleasure to be associated with HPCL in their green energy endeavor. He added that the current order amply demonstrates the conviction of the client in Suzlon’s ability to execute such wind power projects.
