Siemens Energy to Supply Wind Turbines for Wind Project in Scotland

Siemens Energy has obtained an order from SSE Renewables (SSER) for supplying 68 units of 2.3 MW wind turbines. The Griffin wind power project has its site location near Perth in the Scottish Highlands.

Upon completion by 2012, this wind power plant would be delivering an overall capacity to the extent of 156 MW. This would amount to generating sufficient energy to supply more than 80,000 homes.

The Griffin wind farm’s supply scope includes the installation, delivery as well as the commissioning of these wind turbines. Out of the total 68 wind turbines, 61 turbines will feature a 101-m rotor, while 7 turbines will feature a 93-meter rotor. This happens to be the first deployment of a SWT-2.3-101 in the U.K.
