Lumeta, Inc, an Irvine California-based company and a developer of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products has received UL 1703 certification from CSA International for its patented roof integrated PV solar module PowerPly.
Tim Davey, who leads DRI Companies, a parent company of Lumeta as its CEO said that the current certification blended with an accelerated life testing performed on the module earlier by an autonomous lab only confirms the novel design and strength of the module and acknowledges the quality of the PowerPly modules and enables them to start delivery of the products to their clients in the USA.
The latest PowerPly 400 W does not incorporate the traditional glass aluminum frame structure instead the module incorporates DuPont Tefzel front sheet, weightless composite substrate and highly productive mono-crystalline silicon solar cells for amplified power production. PowerPly module does not require racks and can be easily fixed directly over low slopes of roofing, without making roof penetrations thus avoiding issues such as reducing the installation time, wind load problem, over weight, and problems such as roof leaks and consequent costly repairs.
Jonathan Pickering EVP and GM of Lumeta said that PowerPly signifies an important advancement in module technology and further explained the benefits of using cSi technology that allows direct fixing of the solar modules over roofing membrane. He added that the awarding of CSA certification to Lumeta will allow more flexible options to commercial building owners in North America to choose light weight, high performing PV modules that do not require creating changes in the existing roofing systems.
Currently, Lumeta products are exhibited in booth number 8559 at Intersolar North America 2010.
