Siemens Strikes Three Wind Energy Deals

Siemens, a German manufacturing giant, has struck three deals for supplying wind energy turbines as well as the company’s expertise for energy projects in the North Sea, Scotland and Russia.

Siemens has inked partnership agreements with RusHydro and Rostechnologii, two Russian companies. These joint ventures have been established for setting up facilities for producing wind turbine parts for the market in Russia. The unit will be providing services and sales of wind turbines of Siemens in the Russian market as well as other countries. By 2020, Russia plans to install 5,000 MW of wind energy capacity.

The third deal is the Griffin wind power project for which Siemens has received an order for 68 wind turbines from Scotland’s SSE Renewables. This plant, with 156 MW capacity, can produce sufficient energy for powering 80,000 homes.
