General Compression Receives DOE Grant for Energy Storage Project

The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded around $750,000 to General Compression, Inc. under the former’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E GRIDS) funding program.

General Compression develops compressed air energy storage equipment that does not burn any fuel when producing electricity.

This government grant will assist General Compression in accelerating the development of its Advanced Energy Storage (GCAES) technology as well as projects. This transformational energy initiative from the DOE will facilitate the development of a ubiquitous and scalable energy storage technology which will facilitate intermittent renewable generators such as solar and wind to serve a greater portion of the electricity load of the U.S.
