AT&T Inc., a telecommunication company, contracted with Petra Solar, manufacturer of SunWave systems that incorporates efficient grid technology and improved solar power generation in a single system.
As per the agreement AT&T is planning to provide the technology developed by Petra Solar along with its offerings. The combination will enable the utility companies to deal with the basic requirements of renewable energy production and venture into smart grid technology. The SunWave system offered by Petra Solar operates as a separate power station, merges solar power, smart grid and power management technologies together thus allowing the utilities to get better of the power quality and managing the grid. The systems can efficiently operate over street lights and utility poles and connect directly to the secondary voltage of the grid lines that run over the poles.
Michael Antieri who leads Advanced Enterprise Mobility Solutions of AT&T Business Solutions as its President said by exploiting the large AT&T network, the company provides improved efficient wireless connections to connect the common people and the business. He added that the agreement with Petra Solar denotes a right step in the integration of wireless network capabilities with the offered gains of smart grid technology to tender cutting edge renewable energy solutions.
Dr. Shihab Kuran, who leads Petra Solar as its President and CEO said that the idea of mounting SunWave units over the utility poles and connecting them directly to the running grid connectivity at the pole while contributing quality solar power distribution system also permits smart grid capabilities for the clients to voice their woes to the utility center and how it keeps the grid stable during increased load periods.
The latest pack of M2M price packages from AT&T exclusively planned for smart grids establishes this solution as inexpensive alternative for the utility companies.
