Terra-Gen Power Secures Construction Financing for Four Wind Power Projects

Terra-Gen Power, LLC has secured a financing of $1.2 billion for four wind energy projects with an overall capacity of 570 MW at the company’s Alta Wind Energy Center situated in the Kern County, California. Collectively called as Alta Projects II-V, the four projects will utilize 190 units of Vestas-American Wind Technology’s V90-3.0 MW turbines.

The Alta Wind Energy Center is a wind energy development initiative with a total capacity of 3,000 MW for producing pollution-free electricity, out of which 1,550 MW will be used for fulfilling a power purchase contract signed in 2006 with Southern California Edison. The five initial projects, with 720 MW of wind energy capacity, will provide renewable, clean energy for powering around 200,000 homes. Terra-Gen Power is likely to continue operating and managing these wind projects through long-term agreements.
