Laredo Ridge Wind Project in Petersburg, Nebraska Inaugurated

Recently, a groundbreaking ceremony was conducted for the Laredo Ridge Wind project located in Petersburg, Nebraska. The ceremony was attended by community leaders, local as well as state officials. Constructed by Midwest Wind Energy, LLC, this project is operated and owned by Laredo Ridge Wind, LLC.

The total electricity that is produced from this project will be sold to NPPD (Nebraska Public Power District) under a contract that spans for a period of 20 years. Within 10 years, Nebraska is anticipated to be among the top 10 wind power producing states in the U.S. This Petersburg project represents quite a significant expansion of Nebraska’s wind energy capacity with the teamwork of Midwest Wind Energy, Edison Mission Group and NPPD.

The project will utilize 54 units of GE turbines that can generate 81 MW of electrical energy, sufficient to power around 26,000 homes. This $200-million project will support around 170 construction jobs.
