SunPower Corp., a company engaged in providing solar technology for residential, commercial and utility users, and Solar Ventures S.r.l, an Italian producer and operator of photovoltaic electric power plants, have signed a joint venture to chart and raise three solar power plants in the Piedmont area of Italy.
The plants, one of the largest solar power constructions in the area, are considered over 30 ha of land area and is expected to produce 11.1 MW power. The erection of the plants will commence this month and is to be completed before the end of this year.
Mario Riello, who leads SunPower Utility and Power Plants division as its EMEA Sales Director, was delighted to be associated with Solar Ventures for delivering green solar power to the society and hoped for further expansion in the Italian market. He added, the present project depicts the imposing past record of SunPower in handling Italian projects which received appreciation from the partners as well as the financial institutions.
Michele Appendino, Solar Ventures CEO and chairman, recalled the good community and administrative support and excellent irradiance levels received during building of their first photovoltaic solar plant during 2007 at Piedmont solar plant and he expressed his happiness to work with SunPower, whose know how is expected to provide cleaner, greener solar energy for a number of years.
The proposed power plant will have ground mounted systems with a fixed tilt and feature normal standard solar panels of high efficient energy production and come with a 25 year warranty from SunPower as well as Serengeti panels manufactured by SunPower.
