Sierra Club, a versatile club known for its environment protection and supporting activities, has announced a green home technology workshop titled ‘Truth About Solar’ for the local residents of San Mateo, Santa Clara and San Benito counties. Danny Kennedy an expert in Greenpeace and founder of Sungevity is expected to lead the discussions during the workshop.
The free workshop planned on 27 July is designed to present facts about the application of rooftop solar technology, category of solar technology suitable for individual home owners and use of solar energy and the environment. The workshop is preparing to span topics such as the cost of installation, reduction in carbon footprint and cost of energy savings and others. The workshop also intends to provide details on various government rebates and incentives available for home solar installations.
Larry Reed, who leads Sierra Club's Loma Prieta chapter as project director, said that solar energy forms a critical component in America’s effort to attain energy self sufficiency. He added the use of renewable energy sources while reducing the power consumption bills at home also helps in maintaining clean and good environment.
Danny Kennedy, the founder of Sungevity, is associated with Greenpeace since 1990 and worked for the protection of environment. During his earlier years he worked to save a delicate eco system in Africa from an oil project. He participated in several green peace campaigns and was instrumental for the passing of solar initiative legislation in California during the year 2007. He founded Sungevity to propagate the advancement of solar technology and help the house owners to make use of the technology to harvest cheap solar power.
