Sea Breeze Joins International Power Canada for Wind Project

Sea Breeze Energy Inc. has executed an agreement with International Power Canada for developing the Phase I of the project, the Knob Hill Wind Farm with 99 MW capacity. The farm is situated near Port Hardy on the northern Vancouver Island.

The Phase I of this project would be generating enough renewable power that can cover the annual electricity needs of about 100,000 British Columbians. The British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority has given this project an EPA (Electricity Purchase Agreement) spanning 20 years.

The construction of Phase I of this project is likely to commence in 2011 with electric power delivery scheduled for late 2012. Having received an Environmental Assessment Certificate already, the Knob Hill Wind Farm has obtained strong support from Kwakiutl First Nations, Tlatlasikwala and Quatsino along with the communities of Mount Waddington Regional District, Port McNeill and Port Hardy.
