AGL Resources Joins El Paso Corporation for Liquefied Natural Gas Distribution

AGL Resources Inc. has inked a joint venture partnership with El Paso Corporation for LNG (liquefied natural gas) distribution, across the southeastern region of the United States.

This will involve distributing products to the heavy-duty transportation sector that includes vehicles such as heavy-duty trucks, waste haulers, buses and other modes as well. This new joint-venture named Southeast LNG Distribution Company intends to operate and own a fleet of distribution facilities and LNG-fueled tankers.

This partnership will go a long way in providing low-cost, clean-burning natural gas as a suitable substitute to diesel fuel meant for usage in heavy-duty fleet that includes long-haul trucking. AGL Resources is an energy services company that is based in Atlanta. El Paso Corporation is a leading provider of natural gas as well as related energy products. More than 25% of the country’s tractor-trailer traffic takes place in the southeastern part of the U.S. Both El Paso Corporation and AGL Resources have been presented with the unique opportunity of developing this novel transportation market.
