Chevron and Brea City Announce Energy Efficiency and Solar Project

Chevron Energy Solutions along with the City of Brea have started constructing a solar and energy efficiency project that is expected to produce net energy savings in excess of $13 million for the city through the project’s life time. With the installation of this 1.8 MW capacity project, Brea city will become the largest solar energy producer in the entire Orange County.

Chevron Energy Solutions has designed these solar systems and will guarantee performance along with the tasks of operating, building, installing and maintaining the systems. The company has also designed a street lighting upgrade along with interior as well as exterior lighting retrofits and the overall improvements to air conditioning, ventilation, heating as also the energy management controls.

This project is anticipated to reduce the Brea city’s energy usage by over 40% while reducing carbon emissions in excess of 86,000 metric tons, equal to taking away 16,000 cars off the road over the course of the project. This solar and energy efficiency project is anticipated to be completed by 2011.
