Zotos International Gets Final Approval for Large Wind Project

Zotos International Inc. has bagged the final approval for a large wind project in the U.S. and is anticipated to begin construction next month.

Zotos International is a completely owned subsidiary of Shiseido Co. Ltd., a Japanese cosmetics company. This wind project is worth $7 million with a wind energy generating capacity of 3.3 MW. The final approval for the project came from the Geneva city officials in New York State.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) indicates that this project of Zotos is the biggest wind project in the U.S. of any manufacturing firm. The project comprises of two wind turbines with a capacity of 1,650 kW each and is expected to generate renewable energy annually to the tune of around 7,500 mWh. Of this generated wind power, Zotos is expected to donate a 5%-equivalent to the city, as part of the project. Investing in wind energy is part of the company’s sustainability initiative that aims to supply power to its 670,000-squrae-foot facility with renewable energy by 2011 end.
