GE and EDF Collaborate for Improving Energy Efficiency

Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and GE are collaborating for improving energy efficiency, decreasing costs for private industry members, customers, universities and cities. EDF is a national nonprofit organization with member strength of more than 700,000.

By means of the Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg’s Hospital Challenge, the Roosevelt Hospital of Continuum Health Partners (CHP) was the first location for the ecomagination Treasure Hunt program. Through this program opportunities leading to energy savings of $2.1 million with a 2.6-year payback period were identified, resulting in emissions reductions of more than 7,500 metric tons annually.

The Treasure Hunt process allows the employees of Roosevelt for sharing ideas that get quantified into energy dollars as well as CO2 in metric tons saved. GE’s global energy transformation has its focus on R&D investments as well as innovation towards deploying clean energy technology.
