USW Partners With Major Power Firms in China

The United Steelworkers (USW) has entered into contracts with Shenyang Power Group (SPG) and A-Power Energy Generation Systems, two of the leading power generating companies in China. The agreement provides for a robust relationship between U.S. workers and Chinese equipment manufacturers of renewable energy.

The USW will collaboratively work and guide every aspect pertaining to the U.S. market strategies of the two companies including assembly, manufacturing, component sourcing, distribution as well as the development of wind energy projects.

The USW will be working along with SPG and A-Power Energy Generation Systems for creating good-paying, long-term green American jobs. The USW is totally committed towards providing a robust domestic supply chain, which will be essential to the renewable energy leadership of America. Over time, A-Power Energy Generation Systems and SPG intend to purchase steel in the quantity of 50,000 tons, which will be produced in unionized steel mills of America for supplying the towers of a wind farm with 615 MW capacity located in Texas.
