Indian Parliament to Adopt Green Energy with Biomass Plant and Solar Panels

The Indian Parliament is all set to adopt green energy by way of a biomass plant as well as solar panels. The Sansad Bhavan, termed as the Indian Parliament building, will be erected with solar heaters, solar PV systems as well as a biomass plant towards promoting renewable energy technologies.

On the Parliament’s behalf, bids have already been invited by the Punjab Energy Development Agency for installing a solar PV system with a capacity of 80 kW. Not only will the power system be providing battery back up meant for the Parliament building, however over 50% of the power generated would be fed back into the grid.

Some major companies to have submitted bids are Punj Lloyd, Wipro Ecoenergy as well as the Solar Energy Group of Reliance Industries. This new initiative is a result of the Indian government’s efforts in initiating a large nation-wide solar energy revolution. Thus, over the coming 12 years, the overall installed capacity could go up to 20,000 MW. Meanwhile, a 2,000-liter capacity solar thermal system along with a biomass plant with 0.5 tonne capacity are likely to be installed at the Parliament House.
