The Santa Rosa County Commission is all set to review a biofuel plant valued at $30 million that Integrated Energy Partners (IEP), Inc. intends to construct near Jay after providing revenue bonds utilizing the name of the county.
This facility from IEP would make use of various agricultural products for creating electricity, propane, kerosene and biodiesel fuel. Initially, the plant would be providing around 30 jobs while in five years; the employee strength would eventually go up to around 50.
As the name of the county is all set to be utilized for obtaining financing for IEP, Gordon Goodwin, Santa Rosa County’s Commissioner Chairman, has mentioned that they are seeking more information about the project before taking a decision. As per IEP’s documentation, the company would make use of Camelina plant seeds during winter and crops such as cotton seed for year-round production of biofuels. Additionally, municipal as well as other waste products are likely to be utilized as fuels.
Initially, IEP is planning to have an electricity generation capacity of 5-12 MW. As per documentation submitted to the commission, the biofuel plant would be producing biodiesel to the tune of 3 million gallons, cellulosic alcohol amounting to 353,000 gallons, kerosene to the tune of 9 million gallons, propane amounting to 437,000 gallons along with 47.8 MWh of electrical energy annually.
