Astronergy to Purchase Thin-Film Solar Equipment from Oerlikon Solar

Oerlikon Solar and Astronergy have announced a purchase agreement towards buying thin-film equipment from Oerlikon Solar.

This order will help increase Astronergy’s production capacity from the current 30 MW to 75 MW in the year 2010. This purchase happens to be a vital factor in Astronergy’s expansion plans in thin-film solar photovoltaic modules of around 400 MW capacity in the near future.

Astronergy manufactures high-efficiency, tandem-junction, thin-film Micromorph and Amorphous solar modules in China. The company views the thin film route as the right direction towards growth. The company is also pleased to witness the market for thin-film silicon gaining momentum step by step.

The expanded capacity is all set to incorporate into the process of production, the latest innovations and new module materials with particular reference to thin film technology. Overall, the customer is benefited not only from technology innovations but also from cost reductions as well.
