Canadian Solar Selects Guelph for Establishing Solar Module Manufacturing Plant in Ontario

Canadian Solar Inc., a leading solar company, has selected the location of Guelph, Ontario for establishing its solar module manufacturing plant. Canadian Solar Solutions Inc, a Canadian Solar subsidiary, is developing this plant that is anticipated to commence production by early 2011.

The new solar manufacturing facility located in Guelph would be the company’s first solar manufacturing plant to be domestic content compliant with the feed-in-tariff. The facility will have the capability to manufacture 200 MW of solar modules annually while employing about 500 people.

This is the company’s first solar module production facility in Canada. Guelph was chosen among several major cities because of its community energy initiatives and sustainability practices. Canadian Solar manufactures, designs and delivers solar systems and solar products for both off-grid and on-grid use to customers throughout the world.
